Clients tend to book their whale tours with us, one year before their trip. Availability is limited.
Do you need to be a diver to come on the trip?
The humpback whale trips are snorkeling only; there is no diving allowed. There is also no need to dive, as the whales are at the surface most of the time.
Please note that Tongan law allows 4 guests in the water with a certified whale guide at a time. The boats take 6 guests, unless otherwise noted. You will rotate turns in the water with your group.

Tongan law allows 4 clients plus certified whale guide in the water at a time. Guests will rotate turns in and out of the water.
Can I join a tour late or leave it early?
It is possible to leave a tour early. You will be responsible for all costs associated with joining a tour late or leaving early. If you feel this may be necessary, please contact us before you book your whale adventure. Your expedition cost will not change.
Are airport transfers included?
Airport transfers are included in the trip cost from Vava’u airport to and from our accommodations.
Can I get my own accommodations?
Our packages include accommodation, because it is very hard to get a place to stay that’s decent during the whale season. This is why we book our accommodations years in advance, ensuring we have a range of quality accommodations to fit each budget.
Is tipping included and if not, how much should I budget?
Tips are not included in the tour price and tipping is entirely at your discretion. We generally advise $200- $300 USD.
These tips go directly to the boat crew, who work long hard hours, making sure we swim with whales and have a great time.
What is your cancellation policy?
90 days or more: 20% of the trip cost + deposit
Less than 90 days: 100% cancellation fee
Are we guaranteed to see the whales?
Well, it’s the ocean, so you never know, we can’t guarantee anything. However, these trips are scheduled during the peak season to optimize the chance of great encounters. We are quite confident that you will get in the water with the whales.

What are the age restrictions on your tours?

A single supplement for your own room is available, but the price will vary based on which trip you choose. Please ask us. 🙂
